ANCILE recommends using the Context-Sensitive Help Connections profile available with ANCILE uPerform to provide stay-on-top functionality versus the ActiveX solution for uPerform version 4.1 and later. For more information on how to set up the Context-Sensitive Help Connections profile, refer to the Setting Up Context-Sensitive Help section in the Managing Content manual.
Help Launchpad supports Microsoft® ActiveX® controls as an alternative means of providing stay-on-top functionality within the SAP GUI. In addition, this method is the sole means of providing 'stay-on-top' functionality from within the SAP HTML GUI.
The ActiveX mode is an alternative to using the standard Help Launchpad Visual Basic (VB) application (rwdhlp.exe). In some networking environments, slow response times were encountered if the VB file was stored on a network drive. Placing the VB file locally (or in a less remote location) often reduced the response time; however, the maintenance burden associated with administering this solution was not trivial for organizations with large end-user populations. Furthermore, due to browser-security restrictions, the VB application could not be called from within the SAP HTML GUI. As a result, stay-on-top functionality could not be realized from within the SAP HTML GUI using the VB application.
To ensure stay-on-top functionality, the Help Launchpad ActiveX solution requires the following:
- Microsoft Windows-based machines and Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.x, 5.x, 6.x, or 7.x. Stay-on-top functionality is not supported in Macintosh, Unix, or OS/2 environments. Refer to the Info Pak Technical Specifications or uPerform and uPerform Express Technical Specifications for complete details on supported operating systems.
NOTE:
|
Users of Netscape browsers will be able to access context-sensitive help, but the stay-on-top functionality afforded by the ActiveX solution will not be available.
|
NOTE:
|
The Web-loaded ActiveX option executes on a Web server and does not conflict with recent security patches.
|
Refer to Installing the ActiveX Control for information on the options available for installing the ActiveX control on end users' desktops. After you perform the initial setup in SAP, you must select an installation option.
Use the File Active X Launch Mode

Enter the web server location of the ANCILE-delivered rwdsot.cab file. If the location is greater than 132 characters, click >132. The resulting dialog window allows you to enter a path in excess of 132 characters. In addition, you can check the path length in this dialog.
Example: http://ets.ancile.com/helplaunchpad/
The rwdhlp_sot.htm file calls the .cab file from an ANCILE-hosted webserver. If you wish to host the .cab file on you own web server, specify your HTTP location of the rwdhlp_sot.htm file in this field.
