Upgrading The Software (Version 4.2 Or Earlier Versions) – uPerform On-Premise Manuals

Log into the application server.
Locate the installation files on your computer.
Double-click the executable file to start the upgrade.
Click Install.
Confirm all tasks in the checklist.
Optionally, click Open the Upgrade Installation Planning Checklist to view installation prerequisites.
Click the checkbox next to each option.
Click Proceed.

NOTE:

If needed, the installer will run the .NET install silently. You will be prompted to reboot; however the install will relaunch automatically upon login.

NOTE:

If using a 32-bit version of OpenText Collaboration on a 64-bit OS, click Yes in the message window to launch the 32-bit uninstaller.
Click Next.
Click Uninstall.
Click Finish. The 64-bit installation for OpenText Collaboration will launch automatically.
Select Upgrade.
Verify the folder for Vignette Collaboration install location points to the same location where it was previously installed.
Verify the indexing engine is set to Common Apache Solr.
On the Welcome screen, click Next.
Select I accept the terms of the license agreement .
Click Next.
Select Upgrade .
Click Next.
Verify the directory location.
Click Next.
Accept the default, or specify an alternate backup location.

NOTE:

If you have highly customized end user website options, it is recommended that you manually back up the \Collaboration\WWW\[custom skin] folder.
Click Next.
Verify the values and locations.

NOTE:

The values and locations are populated based on your previous installation.
Click Next.
Select Single Server.
Click Next.
Verify the values and locations.
Click Test Connection to verify your setup.
Click Next.
Select No to not configure Collaboration to use a proxy server.
Click Next.
Select Yes to indicate that the Search Server has been pre-installed.
Click Next.
Select Common Apache Solr.
Click Next.

Complete the following fields:

Field	Description
Search Host	Enter the full DNS name for the server. This is a required field. Example: Test1.tech.com
Search Port	This is a required field. The default is 8983.
Solr Web Application Name	Enter the name of the Solr Web Application. For example: solr.
Shared Streaming Directory	Enter the name of the shared streaming directory. For example: C:\Vignette\Collaboration\search\temp

Click Next.
Review the installation information.
Click Next.
Click Finish to complete the upgrade.

NOTE:

This process may take several minutes while the installer is starting up.

NOTE:

The Server installation is available only in English.
Click Next.
Enter the Company Name and Product Key.
Click Next.

Perform one of the following options:

If You Want To	Then
Upgrade a Microsoft SQL database	Select Microsoft SQL. Select Upgrade existing database. Click Next. Verify the SQL Server DNS hostname in the Data Server Hostname field. Verify the SQL user name and password already in use by the database. Enter the name of the existing database in the Global Database Name (service name) field. Enter the port number in the Port field. For example: 1433 Click Next. If prompted to enter your username and password, please contact support for assistance in verifying the database account permissions. Verify the Collaboration Server Data and click Next. Enter the Collaboration Database Account Password. Click Next.
Upgrade an Oracle database	Select Oracle. Select Upgrade existing database. Click Next. Enter the Oracle DNS hostname in the Server DNS Hostname field. Verify the Oracle user name and password already in use by the existing database. Enter the name of the existing database in the Global Database Name (service name) field. Enter the Oracle database port number in the Port field. Click Next. If prompted to enter your username and password, please contact support for assistance in verifying the database account permissions.
Upgrade a DB2 database	Select IBM DB2. Select Upgrade existing database. Enter the DB2 hostname in the Database Server Hostname field. Verify the DB2 user name and password already in use by the existing database. Enter the name of the existing database in the Global Database Name (service name) field. Enter the DB2 database port number in the Port field. Click Next. Verify the Collaboration Server Data and click Next. If prompted, enter the Collaboration Database Authentication Password and click Next.

Click Install.
When the upgrade is complete, click Finish.
Locate the directory location specified in Step 20. The default location is [Install Location]\Collaboration_PRE_[Version Number].
Copy the ucontent directory.
Locate the [Install Location]\Collaboration\www\ directory.
Paste the pre-80 ucontent directory into the [Install Location]\Collaboration_PRE_[Version Number]. If prompted, overwrite.
In Internet Explorer, enter the Server URL in the format http://[Collaboration Server Name] and login to the server as the Admin user to confirm a successful upgrade.

NOTE:

If you are using a port other than the default port 80 for IIS, you must enter the Server URL in the format http://[Collaboration Server Name]:[IIS port number].
Confirm that there are no error lines in the upgrade log file ([Install Location]\Collaboration\Log\CollabConsole.txt).
If the upgrade requires a Vignette upgrade, the Server will automatically create a [Install Location]\Collaboration_PRE_[Version Number] folder that stores your default website skins from the pre-upgraded version.
You must copy the default skins folders from the [Install Location]\Collaboration_PRE_[Version Number] folder into the corresponding locations in the [Install Location]\Collaboration folder.
Refer to the Technical Specifications for features and customizations that need to be added to the default skins folder after they are copied into the [Install Location]\Collaboration folder.
